EL ÁNGEL. THIÊN THÂN. MALAIKA. ANGHEL. TIÃNSHî. SVARGADŪTALĒ

Operation Walk team members have been called “angels” in many different languages. Volunteers have helped over 10,000 individuals in 20 countries regain their independence through joint replacement surgery. Now you have the opportunity to join us in our mission to combat the effects of joint diseases around the world.

Operation Walk Angels is a group who are, through their philanthropy, helping to provide the gift of mobility to individuals in desperate need of life-transforming surgeries, primarily in developing countries. These Angels provide financial support for our semi-annual medical missions staffed by volunteer doctors, nurses, and physical therapists. These contributions provide critical funding for medications, supplies (including implants and recovery equipment), cargo costs, and transportation associated with each mission. Per patient, the total cost of our care averages around $3,000. This amount covers patient labs, x-rays, medications, and provides hospital services such as food, laundry, nursing, and operating room time. Donations from our Angels program help to offset these costs.

What makes this program unique is the connection it provides between donor and patient. Each Angel receives real-time information during our missions that follows patients through their entire journey from screening, to surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation.

Annual membership in the Angels is $1,000. 100% of the Angels’ tax-deductible donations are allocated to medical missions and patient care. Join us now to support our upcoming missions in 2024 and help make a difference in the life of someone who is suffering the pain and indignity of not being able to live independently. In just one short year, the Angels ranks have grown from 32 founders to 54 strong and counting. The first step into a new life begins with you, submit your donation and become a part of our team. We’ll be contacting you shortly after. More information.

ANGELS UPDATE 2024

Unloading cargo, sterilizing instruments, joint replacement, screening and documenting patient records, physical therapy assistance, sorting medication, supply organization, assembling discharge bags, arranging volunteer room and board, holding a family member’s hand, arranging for patient transport, unpacking and repacking, volunteer transportation, recording patient progress, patient transfers… All in the day of the life of an Operation Walk Angel.

Our Angels worked from the moment they landed in the Philippines until the last patient was discharged and the cargo box was packed. These women not only donated to help directly fund patient surgeries and recovery but also gave of their time and talents.

But an Angel’s work doesn’t end with the completion of a mission. Currently, our Angels are working to organize and pack supplies, secure shipping, make arrangements for volunteer meals and lodging, and coordinate with our partner hospital in Havana in anticipation of our 2024 mission to Cuba that will happen in just a few short months.

Thank you, Angels, for giving your heart and soul to our organization and for being there for the big and small moments in each patient’s journey. A smile, an embrace, a gentle word of encouragement-all these acts are immeasurable contributions to our mission to restore mobility.
