Introducing Dr. Steve Meyer & His Son, Josh

Dr. Steve Meyer is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon raised on a small farm in Northwest Iowa and is currently practicing Orthopedics at CNOS in Sioux City Iowa. As founder and president of the Siouxland Tanzania Educational Medical Ministry, Dr. Steve has been the recipient of both the AAOS and AAHKS Humanitarian Award as well as a State of Iowa Volunteer Hall of Fame recipient.

In August, Dr. Steve will be joining the Op Walk team in Arusha Tanzania where he joined Dr. Dorr on the inaugural trip to the African continent. He also participated later with the WOGO team in Tanzania as well.

Accompanying Dr. Steve will be his son, Joshua, a recent graduate of Wheaton College majoring in physics with honors. Joshua aspires to follow in his father’s footsteps in medicine. Joshua is also deeply involved in multiple research projects including nanoparticle cell membrane diffusion.

Dr. Steve and Joshua bring years of Tanzanian experience as Dr. Steve has logged 60 and Joshua 9 trips to Tanzania. Their mission includes an orphanage of 51 beautiful children, an educational scholarship program (15,000 students to date), a 5,000+ schoolchildren feeding program, an Evangelical Outreach, and an agricultural Training Center.

Both Dr. Steve and Josh feel so incredibly blessed to be an integral part of this exciting and transformative endeavor for Operation Walk Tanzania.
