Operation Walk Documentary: La Havana (Cuba)

We are excited to share a video documenting our recent trip to Havana, Cuba by Brent Meeske.

Brent is a documentary filmmaker living in Topanga, CA. He spends most of his time traveling and filming for National Geographic and the Discovery Channel, but last year had the opportunity to accompany his brother-in-law, Orthopedic surgeon Kirk Reichard of Spokane, WA. to Cuba on a humanitarian mission with Operation Walk.

Brent expressed why he felt so compelled to volunteer his time and talents to Operation Walk’s mission to restore mobility.

“Last year my brother-in-law invited me to join him and a team of 70 volunteers on a humanitarian mission to Cuba. I make documentary films and thought I may be able to contribute. This short documentary is intended to show the incredible work that Operation Walk does, as well as the dire need for their help in places like Cuba.

I was moved by the passion and dedication of the volunteers. They helped raise the funds, and volunteered their time. It is clearly a labor of love for these talented and kind people. Equally, the Cuban people left me in awe. Their kindness, generosity and toughness is remarkable. “

We are so happy to have Brent as a part of the Operation Walk team and to be able to share his unique vision of what is like to restore mobility to those who need it most.
