Ava’s volunteer service for Operation Walk began in 1996, when her husband Kyle Baldwin was selected to provide physical therapy on our first trip. She helped support the team, like so many families, by staying home and holding down the fort with child rearing, jobs, caring for elderly parents and maintaining the household, while our team went out on surgical missions to help others.
Having a Master’s Degree in Communication, Ava enjoys fundraising and procuring supplies, packing and organizing in the warehouse, and coordinating the Operation Walk Angel luncheons. Her favorite partof Operation Walk missions is interacting with patients and the team, and also trying not to butcher the Spanish language!
Ava and Kyle live in Long Beach, CA. They are the proud parents of 3 kiddos: Brett, Kate, and Blake. Their 2 sons attend(ed) the United States Air Force Academy and their daughter is a scholar-athlete who played Division 1 Beach Volleyball for Arizona State University. Now that the family has grown and flown (literally), Ava is committing more time to help Operation Walk at the local level.
Ava puts her heart into helping Operation Walk. She generates great ideas to streamline our processes and to help with fundraising. She has boundless energy and loves to see philanthropies thrive and grow.
This year, Ava has volunteered to co- chair the Operation Walk Angels’ luncheon. The event will be held on September 8th, 2021 at Annandale Golf Club in Pasadena.
