Operation Walk has two missions planned for 2020. One in March, led by Dr. William Long, to Managua, Nicaragua. The second, in August 2020 to Antigua, Guatemala, led by Dr. Paul Gilbert.
Both of these countries have over 1,000 people on their waiting lists hoping for a chance to be selected for surgery. We have increased our visits to these countries because of an overwhelming need for help.
In Nicaragua, we worked with one Operation Walk team from Canada to purchase and install two new sterilizers. Our goal is not only to help patients, but to educate the local staff and make improvements in the hospital infrastructure.
